Holly - I think that party will end up a party of one, I'm afraid, well unless of course you count the worms and microbes!
Nevertheless, it will indeed be exciting when I can get started (very soon from the looks of things)

Anthony - I imagine a light bulb would work quite well. I've actually been amazed with how quickly my material dried out. I can't smell it at all any more! Will leave it a few more days to be safe though.

Maybe hanging a grow light (or any spotlight-like bulb that gives off some heat) above it would speed up the drying process a little bit.

This drying step is going to be hard for me to do because my garage is a mess and I don't have room to leave it out. How long does it last if you don't dry it out?

Great post! Keep the updates coming.

You're gonna love having a functioning bokashi bucket. You should throw a compost party on bokashi inauguration day. Although I have no idea what a compost party is, exactly, think of the possibilities!

Next time I make bokashi, I'm making it in ziplock bags like you did. It's smart, and I'm sure, very handy. One big bag is kind of a pain in the patootie. I'm guessing it might cook faster in little bags, too.
