JULIE - thanks for sharing that! I'll have to look into that variety for next year. I was actually thinking of switching over to raspberry bushes next yet. Apart from the food value they offer - the one bush I do have has been going like gangbusters (thanks to a vermicomposting trench nearby) - I didn't realize they could grow so fast! It wouldn't be nearly as attractive as the sunflowers though so I'm still somewhat undecided.
---
BARBARA - Thanks for the kind words. My aquaponics set up is still in the 'theory' stage I'm afraid - haha - just too much on the go this past couple of years, and a bit short on space for new projects. One day though...ONE DAY!

Oh, and I'd likely just start with goldfish to test it out, but thought an outdoor system with sunfish or perch would be cool.

Nice site and great pictures of the sunflowers in your hedge. Amazing the number of varieties and how different they all are!
Compost guy is a cool niche site too.. enjoyed your article on aquaponics. I"m very interested in that! What kind of fish do you use in your tanks and are you growing the fish for food as well? like tilapia? or just using them as fertilizer creators.. lol

Just curious! enjoyed your site!

I love sunflowers--thanks for sharing these pictures. Have you tried growing the New Mexican (perennial) sunflowers for a privacy fence? Although the flowers are not as varied as Monet's Pallet, they are rather bushier and make a really lovely "fence."

Cheers!

Hiya Bob,
Meant to say 'hi' after your last comment. Glad to see you still lurking.
:-)

I'm afraid I let CompostGuy sit unattended for too long at various times - so that's probably contributed to my lack of faithful following as I seem to have over at Red Worm Composting.
Oh well - just going to keep chugging away with this site and we'll see what happens.
Thanks for popping by and cheering me on

Thanks for the link to the plant site as well - looks cool!

Hi Bentley, once again your photography is exceptional. It is really neat that you share this with the rest of the world. I have followed another site in PA that does interesting photo work that you may enjoy. All of his photos are cataloged for use and some I guess for sale. He grows from seeds and sells and trades the seeds. If you have any interest check him out at robsplants.com. The compost guy is as interesting redworming composting, but judging from the quantity of comments, not many people agree with me.
